PARADE

Our Activities:

Every year, The LDD Teams celebrate Lunar New Year with our Midnight Eve and Lunar New Year Day parades. The parades consist of lion dancing, drumming, music, dancing, fashion shows and firecrackers, all part of our cultural celebration. We parade throughout Orange County, performing our traditional Lion Dance, Fashion shows and lighting firecrackers to bring good fortune and good luck to the local businesses in the community. In addition to the parades, we also share our tradition by performing at various locations throughout the Orange County area, such as shopping plazas, public parks, shopping malls, and local schools, during the month of February as part of the Lunar New Year celebration.

PRACTICE

Our Daily Routines.

Practice for Lion Dance begins the weekend after Labor Day and runs until Lunar New Year. It is open to anyone that wishes to learn. All ages and skill levels are welcome to join. We meet to discuss drumming, instruments, and lion dance basics. Ricky Pham teach us the basics of drumming and the drum beats of the dance. We also cover the movements of the lion, such as stalking and walking, as well as performance routines.

PERFORMANCES

Our Performance:

Lion Dance is also performed as a celebration for special occasions such as weddings, banquets, grand openings, and cultural shows. The LDD team troupe performs private and public events throughout the year at various venues. We use these opportunities to practice our learning skills and spend time bonding as a team.

Lion dancing is a cultural activity that all members participate in. In addition to keeping LDD team close to its roots, it is our major fundraiser for our traveling sports teams (equipment, supplies, transportation, court fees, etc.). All funds go directly to team needs, and all members practice & perform this vital tradition to preserve the cultural importance & tradition of the lion dance.
